Ministry of Youth, Sport, and Arts Initiates Review of National Sports Policy
In a recent Governance workshop, the Ministry of Youth, Sport, and Arts announced the commencement of a review of the National Sports Policy. The objective of this initiative is to establish a comprehensive legal framework that will guide and oversee the sports sector in the country.
Kangwa Chileshe, the Permanent Secretary, shared this information while delivering a speech on behalf of the Minister of Youth, Sport, and Arts, Hon. Elvis Nkandu, MP. Hon. Nkandu emphasized the importance of a profound understanding of elements such as sports marketing and financial management. He highlighted that this understanding would act as a catalyst for effective resource and athlete management, ultimately enhancing the visibility and rewards of the sports industry for the country.
The delegates attending the workshop were encouraged to actively participate in the selection process for board members of the National Sports Council, a responsibility led by the Ministry. The Ministry expressed the desire to witness an engaged and operational board in the coming year.
The Governance workshop specifically targeted Presidents and General Secretaries from various sports associations and federations. The move to review the National Sports Policy demonstrates the government’s commitment to fostering a robust sports ecosystem with clear guidelines and regulations for the benefit of athletes and the sports industry as a whole.
