Continuous Improvement Remains a Priority, Says Bruce Mwape

Despite securing a convincing 6-0 victory in Angola on Wednesday, Copper Queens’ head coach, Bruce Mwape, expressed his dissatisfaction with certain aspects of the team’s performance. Mwape highlighted areas that require improvement, emphasizing that the team experienced breakdowns and struggled to maintain possession, despite their dominance in Luanda.

Acknowledging the positive outcome, Mwape indicated that the team had created numerous opportunities in the first half but failed to convert them efficiently. He praised the players for their second-half performance but emphasized the need for enhancement in possession play.

Mwape hinted at potential changes to the lineup, intending to provide opportunities to players who were sidelined in Luanda. While pleased with the away win, he stressed the importance of addressing specific areas for improvement and hinted at adjustments in future matches.

Reflecting on the match, Mwape mentioned, “Not really 100 percent, we still need to improve on possession because there were a lot of breakdowns, otherwise the girls did well, and we were happy with the result.”

The goal-scorers in the 6-0 victory included a hat-trick from Barbra Banda, along with goals from Lushomo Mweemba, Ireen Lungu, and Racheal Kundananji. Looking ahead, the team is set to face the second leg of the 2024 WAFCON Qualifier second round at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Tuesday at 18:00.
