Mafwenta evaluates Avram Grant’s tenure as Chipolopolo coach.

Czech Republic-based Chipolopolo midfielder, Golden Mafwenta, has commended the impact of head coach Avram Grant, attributing the team’s improvement to his tenure. Grant, who assumed the role in December last year, has led the team in six competitive matches, with just one loss recorded.

The lone defeat occurred last Tuesday against Niger during the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, prompting criticism from fans. This setback followed an impressive 4-2 comeback victory over Congo Brazzaville at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

Speaking exclusively to BolaNews, Mafwenta, who plays for MFK Vykov in the Czech Republic, expressed confidence in the team’s progress under Grant’s guidance.

“With the Chipolopolo Boys, we are giving our best to reach our goals. If you observe our past performances, there was room for improvement. Since Coach Avram Grant joined, we have witnessed consistent progress in each game. A setback today doesn’t mean we won’t rise again tomorrow,” said the former Zanaco defender.

Mafwenta, a regular call-up in Grant’s squad since making his Chipolopolo debut in 2021, emphasized the team’s determination to push forward, focusing on the upcoming AFCON tournament.

Having featured in both matches against Congo Brazzaville and Niger, Mafwenta, a 22-year-old defensive midfielder, anticipates inclusion in the final squad traveling to Ivory Coast for the Afcon tournament. His contributions have been notable, playing in 15 matches for his club this season and aiding them in securing the top position with 34 points from 16 matches played.
