Watch The Match That Led To Tunisia Coach’s Sacking At The 2026 World Cup

Sabri Lamouchi has become the first coaching casualty of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after being sacked as Tunisia head coach following their heavy 5-1 defeat to Sweden in their tournament opener.

The Tunisian Football Federation confirmed Lamouchi’s dismissal through a statement on Instagram, revealing that plans were already underway to appoint Mondher Kebaier as interim national team coach.

Tunisia had entered the tournament with high hopes after a strong qualifying campaign, but Sweden punished their mistakes through goals from Yasin Ayari, who scored twice, Alexander Isak, Viktor Gyokeres and Mattias Svanberg.

After the match, Lamouchi admitted his side made too many mistakes, describing the defeat as painful and difficult to recover from.
