Senegal Dismiss Pape Thiaw In Wake Of FIFA World Cup 2026 Elimination

The Senegalese Football Federation has dismissed head coach Pape Thiaw following the national team’s elimination from the Round of 32 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The decision comes after Senegal suffered a 3-2 defeat to Belgium, a result that ended their campaign at the knockout stage and brought their tournament run to a premature close.

Thiaw had taken over the national team following the departure of Aliou Cissé and successfully guided the Lions of Teranga into the knockout phase. However, the federation opted for a change in leadership in the wake of the early exit from the competition.

The federation has yet to announce a replacement, with further updates expected in due course as Senegal begin planning for the future.
