ZPL Sounds Alarm Over Rising Hooliganism in Football

The Zambian Premier League strongly condemns the acts of violence that occurred at Nkholoma Stadium following the league fixture between Red Arrows and Power Dynamos.

Football is a unifying sport that brings communities together, and there is absolutely no place for violence, hooliganism, or any form of misconduct before, during or after the match.

The behavior witnessed is deeply regrettable and goes against the values of respect, integrity, and fair play that the League upholds.

The League has since instituted a full investigation into the matter in collaboration with relevant authorities and match officials.

Those found responsible will face disciplinary action in accordance with the League Rules and Regulations.

Speaking after the incident at Nkoloma Stadium, ZPL Chief Executive Officer Joseph Chimpampwe condemned the acts of violence

“What happened at Nkholoma Stadium is extremely disappointing and unacceptable. As the Zambian Premier League, we are committed to ensuring that our stadia remain safe spaces for players, officials and supporters.

We will not tolerate any acts of violence, and firm action will be taken against those found wanting. We urge fans to support their teams passionately but responsibly.”

ZPL once again calls on all supporters to uphold the spirit of the game and to conduct themselves in a manner that protects the integrity of Zambian football.

Further updates will be communicated in due course.
