Mercy Chipasula Joins ZESCO Ndola Girls On Loan

ZESCO Ndola Girls have pulled off a major January coup, securing the services of Copper Queens midfielder Mercy Chipasula on a short-term loan deal.

Reliable sources have confirmed to The ZamFoot Crew that the highly-rated midfielder has put pen to paper on a deal with the Ndola-based side.

However, fans eager to see her in action will have to wait, as Chipasula will only link up with her new teammates following the conclusion of the current Zambia women’s national team camp.

Copper Queens midfielder Mercy Chipasula has joined ZESCO Ndola Girls on a short-term loan, The ZamFoot Crew has learned.

Chipasula completed a move to the Ndola-based outfit during the January transfer window but will only link up with the team after the current Zambia women’s national football team camp due to national team commitments.

The highly-rated midfielder is expected to spend the remainder of the season with “Zegalicious” before departing for a yet-to-be-named club in the United States of America, The ZamFoot Crew understands.

Despite limited club appearances due to involvement with national teams across different age groups, Chipasula has managed to score two goals and register five assists.

The former Zambia women’s national under-17 football team captain has already made her debut for the Copper Queens.

She was introduced by coach Nora Häuptle during Zambia’s 3–2 defeat to the Malawi women’s national football team, popularly known as the Scorchers, and went on to provide an assist for Rachel Nachula in February last year.

Over the past 15 months, Chipasula has represented the Zambia women’s national under-17 football team (Copper Princesses), the Zambia women’s national under-20 football team (Young Copper Queens), and the senior Zambia women’s national football team, The Copper Queens.

She played a key role as Zambia qualified for back-to-back FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup tournaments and starred at the 2024 COSAFA U-17 Girls Championship, where she was named Player of the Tournament and finished as top scorer with 13 goals.

At the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco, Chipasula captained Zambia and scored in the team’s emphatic 4–0 victory over New Zealand women’s national under-17 football team, helping the Copper Princesses secure their first-ever win at the tournament and reach the knockout stage for the first time.

Her outstanding performances also earned her the Junior Female Sportsperson of the Year award at the Regional Annual Sports Awards 2025, where she beat competition from Zimbabwean cricketer Kellys Ndlovu and Botswana chess player Natalie Katlego Banda.

Chipasula further capped off a remarkable year by being named Young Player of the Season at the 2025 ZPL Women’s Super League Awards.
