“I Prayed to Fail,” Says Kamanga on FAZ Election Loss

Former Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president Andrew Kamanga has made a surprising revelation, disclosing that he actively prayed to lose this year’s FAZ elections an outcome that ended his nine-year leadership of Zambian football.
“I prayed that I could lose and be at peace. I want to state that I am at peace. I am not going back to FAZ again. I lost the election and my time is done,” he said.
Speaking during a thanksgiving ceremony held at his Lusaka residence, Mimosa Mansion, Kamanga expressed contentment with the election results and confirmed he has no plans to return to football administration.
His candid admission follows a closely contested and at times contentious election, which saw Keith Mweemba emerge as the new FAZ president. Kamanga’s remarks offer a rare glimpse into his mindset ahead of the vote, signaling his readiness to step away from the sport’s governance.
