Freddy Micheals Makes Egyptian Switch, Leaving Zesco United for Ceramica Cleopatra
Ivorian striker Freddy Michael Kouablan has sealed a move to Egyptian Premier League side Ceramica Cleopatra FC, bringing his stint with Zesco United to an end.
Kouablan joins the Egyptian outfit as a free agent following the expiry of his contract with the nine-time MTN Super League champions.
Zesco United are now expected to dip into the transfer market to find a suitable replacement during the ongoing window.
The forward had returned to Zambian football after an unsuccessful spell with Tanzanian giants Simba SC, who had signed him from Green Eagles FC.
His move to Simba followed a remarkable goal-scoring run in Zambia, where he netted 14 goals in half a season (2023/24) for Green Eagles, establishing himself as one of the league’s most lethal forwards at the time.
Despite high expectations, Kouablan struggled to secure a regular place at Simba, prompting a return to Zambia where he later signed for Zesco United. During his time in Ndola, the Ivorian striker featured in both domestic league action and CAF interclub competitions, contributing with goals and valuable experience as the club competed on multiple fronts.
His switch to Ceramica Cleopatra FC now presents Kouablan with a fresh challenge in North African football, as the Egyptian side continues to bolster their squad in pursuit of a strong league and cup campaign.
