FAZ President Pays for Replica Jerseys to Discourage ‘Handout Culture’

Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) President Keith Mweemba has called on football administrators and stakeholders to acknowledge the significant financial demands of the sport and to support clubs through meaningful, sustainable means.

Mweemba made the remarks during his visit to Solwezi for the reconvened 2025 FAZ North-Western Provincial Annual General Meeting.

As part of his itinerary, the FAZ President attended the MTN Super League Week 23 clash between Kansanshi Dynamos and Mufulira Wanderers at the Solwezi Stadium.

Addressing the football fraternity, Mweemba emphasized that the growth of the game is contingent upon a collective understanding of its financial needs.

During the halftime interval, officials from Kansanshi Dynamos presented the FAZ President with replica jerseys as a token of appreciation.

While accepting the gesture, Mweemba reciprocated by donating K2,000 to the club. He explained that his contribution was intended to discourage the prevailing culture of receiving items without financial exchange, urging stakeholders instead to purchase official merchandise as a direct method of supporting clubs.

In a further display of solidarity, the FAZ President extended a similar financial contribution to the Mufulira Wanderers delegation, despite not having received any symbolic items from the visiting side.
