FAZ Names Nkweto Tembwe As New Head of Media

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has strengthened its media and communications team with the appointment of seasoned journalist and communications specialist Nkweto Tembwe as the new Head of Media and Communications.

In a move designed to elevate the association’s engagement and public profile, FAZ has also named Godfrey Chikumbi as Media Manager, while Sydney Mungala retains his position as Communications Manager.

The reshuffle follows a strategic restructuring of the Media Department into a full directorate—a shift aimed at reflecting modern standards in football media and public relations.

“We are bringing seasoned expertise into the heart of our communications team,” said FAZ General Secretary Machacha Shepande. “Nkweto Tembwe returns to Football House with more than three decades of excellence in journalism, broadcasting, and PR. His insight will be invaluable as we elevate our storytelling and media outreach.”

Tembwe, previously Communications Manager at FAZ, holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication with Public Relations from Mulungushi University and a Diploma in Journalism from Evelyn Hone College.

Joining him is Godfrey Chikumbi, an active journalist and TV producer at the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS). Chikumbi brings advanced academic credentials to the role, including a Bachelor of Communication in Journalism and a Master’s Degree in International Relations and Development, both earned from Mulungushi University.

Shepande expressed confidence that the new appointments will reinforce FAZ’s media relations and sharpen the impact of the association’s communications strategy.

“This isn’t just about filling positions—it’s about building a forward-looking team that can connect with fans, partners, and the media in more dynamic ways,” Shepande added. “We’re positioning FAZ for a new era of transparency and engagement.”
