Zambia’s Copper Queens secured a third-place finish at the 2026 COSAFA Women’s Championships after a convincing 3-1 victory over Zimbabwe in the bronze medal match.
Determined to end their campaign on a high note following a disappointing semifinal exit, the defending champions delivered a strong attacking performance to claim the consolation prize and walk away with medals.
The result comes after Zambia’s hopes of retaining their title were dashed by Namibia, who stunned the defending champions in the semifinals to qualify for the tournament final for the first time in 20 years.
Despite the early elimination, the Copper Queens regrouped effectively to finish the competition on a positive note against their regional rivals.
