The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially announced a change of dates for the upcoming Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFON).

Originally scheduled to take place from March 17 to April 3, 2026, the tournament in Morocco will now run from July 25 to August 16, 2026.

“In October 2024, the Confederation of African Football (“CAF”) awarded Morocco the organisation of the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (“WAFCON”) 2026, initially scheduled for 17 March to 3 April 2026,” reads a statement posted on the CAF Website.

“After discussions between CAF and its partners, FIFA and other stakeholders, CAF has decided to reschedule the dates of the TotalEnergies CAF WAFCON 2026, from 25 July to 16 August 2026, in order to ensure the success of this important women’s competition, given certain unforeseen circumstances.”

The statement further reads: “Preparations for the TotalEnergies CAF WAFCON 2026 are underway, and all parties are confident that it will be successful.”

Zambia is in Group C alongside defending champions Nigeria, Malawi and Egypt.
