The Zambia international striker delivered a standout performance, bagging a brace as Leicester City fought back to secure a thrilling 2-2 draw against Preston North End at the King Power Stadium. He opened the scoring early and then struck again late on to snatch a valuable point for Gary Rowett’s determined side.
Next on the agenda is a trip to Hillsborough to face Sheffield Wednesday on Monday, where the travelling Foxes will be laser-focused on claiming all three points and keeping their momentum alive.
“There’s no time to look down, there’s no time to feel sorry for ourselves,” Patson said in the immediate aftermath of Good Friday’s draw with Preston.
“It’s now time to stick together to focus on the game on Monday because it’s a quick turnaround. We just have to make sure that we’re ready for that.”
Daka opened the scoring in LE2 in our most recent outing, but the Lancashire outfit hit back with two goals of their own to get their noses in front.
“It was a tough game against a tough opponent,” Daka continued after scoring a late leveller. “I think we’d have loved three points today. We had a great start. It was almost like today was the day, but unfortunately we didn’t get the maximum points.
“But I think it was a very good performance from the group. We showed really good character, mentality after going behind. We didn’t panic, we just kept doing what the gaffer asked us to do. We just had to make sure we didn’t drop all three points today.
“It’s always good to be on the scoresheet. It’s been a crazy few hours for me, getting back [from international duty], but this is the job that we chose. We just have to make sure we’re ready every time.
“I try to give my best every opportunity I get. Tomorrow is not promised, you don’t know what’s going to happen, so I just try to utilise every opportunity that I have because I don’t want to live to regret anything.
“It’s mixed emotions, disappointment but also believing that we did everything right. It was just unfortunate that we didn’t stay focused the whole 90 minutes and we gave away goals which we could have avoided.
“The game is 90 minutes, we just have to keep fighting. We did our best but it wasn’t enough. We need to score more goals to win us the game.”
With a sold-out away end backing the Foxes in Sheffield, Patson was full of praise for the Blue Army on Friday.
He added: “I think from the beginning, we could hear them. They pushed us, they gave everything. We had the extra energy to push ourselves. We appreciate every moment that they come to support us every game.
