Saddam Phiri’s Hattrick Sinks FC MUZA in 4-1 Defeat to Red Arrows
Maestro United Zambia Football Club (FC MUZA) faced a formidable challenge at home, succumbing to a 4-1 defeat against Red Arrows, with Red Arrows’ captain Yusuf Saddam Phiri delivering a remarkable hattrick.
Despite FC MUZA’s aspiration for a turnaround in form and their eagerness to secure their first home win in eight games, Red Arrows dominated the match. The defeat extended FC MUZA’s winless streak to nine games, intensifying the pressure on head coach Mathews Ndlovu.
Red Arrows, coming off a notable 1-0 victory against Nkana in the previous week, continued their impressive form. Paul Katema opened the scoring in the 15th minute, laying the foundation for Red Arrows’ dominance. Captain Saddam Phiri added to the lead in the 34th minute.
In the second half, FC MUZA showed determination, and top scorer Andrew Phiri managed to find the net, securing his 9th goal of the season. Despite this response, Saddam Phiri completed his hattrick with two more goals in the 90th minute, sealing Red Arrows’ victory.
Red Arrows’ consistent performance has kept them in contention for the top spot in the league, with 35 points, just one point behind leaders ZESCO United. FC MUZA, currently in 7th position on the league table with 28 points from 19 games, faces the challenge of regaining momentum as they navigate through a challenging phase in the league.
