Real Madrid and city rivals Atletico will clash in the Spanish Super Cup.

Real Madrid is slated to go up against their city rivals, Atletico Madrid, in the semifinals of the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia. Simultaneously, Barcelona will be facing Osasuna in this tournament, as confirmed by the Spanish federation on Wednesday.

On January 10, Copa del Rey champions Real Madrid will meet Atletico in Riyadh, while LaLiga title-holders Barcelona will challenge the runners-up of the Spanish cup on January 11. The climax of the competition is scheduled for January 14, and all the matches will be hosted at Al-Nassr’s Al-Awwal Park Stadium in the Saudi capital.

It’s noteworthy that Al-Nassr is currently the club where Cristiano Ronaldo, the former Real Madrid striker and all-time top goalscorer of the club, is plying his trade. The team also boasts talents like Sadio Mane and Aymeric Laporte, who recently made the switch from European football.

The Spanish Super Cup was initially taken to Saudi Arabia by the RFEF (Spanish Football Federation) in 2019, and it has continued to be held there, except for the 2020-21 season due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
