Hockey Coach Aims for Medal Bracket at World Cup, OYDC Zambia Extends Best Wishes
Floyd Choma, the coach of the Zambia National Women’s Hockey Team, is determined to secure a place in the medal bracket at the upcoming Hockey 5s World Cup in Muscat, Oman. The team, currently in camp at OYDC Zambia, is preparing to face strong opponents in Group B, including Australia, Ukraine, and South Africa.
During a send-off ceremony at OYDC Zambia, Coach Choma reassured that all the players are in good shape for the competition as they get ready to depart for Oman on January 17. OYDC Zambia’s CEO, Dr. Fredrick Chitangala, expressed gratitude for the team’s dedicated use of their sports facility and conveyed confidence in the girls’ performance in Oman.
Boniface Kambikambi, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ), encouraged the team to represent Zambia with pride and bring the cup home. He noted the growing popularity of hockey in the country and the increasing interest from athletes.
Elvis Bwalya, the general secretary of the Zambia Hockey Association, expressed gratitude to the sponsors of the team and anticipates a highly competitive World Cup. Bwalya affirmed the team’s commitment to giving their best to secure victories.
