FAZ Seeks Financial Support for Copper Queens’ Olympic Preparations

Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) President Andrew Kamanga has issued a heartfelt plea for financial support to help prepare the Copper Queens for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. The team needs over K5 million (approximately $234,283.79) to fund their comprehensive preparation plan, which includes local and international training camps and high-profile friendly matches in Europe.

“We are committed to giving our team the best possible preparation, but we need the support of our stakeholders to make this happen,” Kamanga stated during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Lusaka. “We have a tough group ahead of us, but we are determined to build on our experience and growth since our debut at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.”

The Copper Queens face a challenging Group B, which includes formidable opponents like the USA, Australia, and Germany. However, Kamanga remains optimistic about the team’s prospects. “We have grown in stature and experience since 2021, and we are ready to defy the odds at the 2024 event,” he said.

The team’s preparation plan includes a rigorous training schedule and international friendlies to ensure they are well-prepared for the tournament. “We want to give our team the best preparation possible, and we are hopeful that, working with other stakeholders, we will be able to achieve this,” Kamanga added.

The Copper Queens will kick off their campaign against the USA on July 25, followed by matches against Australia and Germany. With national support, FAZ is confident that the team will make Zambia proud. “Let us come together to support our team and make this Olympic journey a successful one,” Kamanga urged.
