FAZ Conducts Tests For Referees As Preparations for the 2021/2022 Season
Preparations for the 2021/2022 FAZ season have hit high gear with referees, match commissioners and assessors undertaking preparatory courses.
Referees are undergoing medical and fitness tests at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka. International referees also must be run under the rule by CAF/FIFA Instructors.
“This is a routine exercise that we conduct for our referees every year. We have referees from Eastern, Southern, Western, Lusaka and Central,” said FAZ Referees Manager Aziph Banda.
Banda said the exercise had attracted over 60 female referees and 150 men.
The exercise will trickle down to all the provinces for referees in the lower leagues to also be tested. Some of the notable participants are FIFA referees Janny Sikazwe, Audrick Nkole, Derrick Kafuli and Mathews Hamalila.
Others are FIFA Assistant Referees Kabwe Chansa, Chiwoyu Sinyangwe, Thomas Kaela, Meck Zulu, Trywell Nyirenda and Naphtally.
Among the pool of top female referees are Patience Mumba, Gloria Sambumba, Annesta Bwalya, Tendai Sakala and Maata Mwabafu.
The female Assistant Referees are led by Diana Chikotesha, Mercy Zulu and Gertrude Nyirenda.
