City Yamoto Appointed New Manager
City Of Lusaka Fc of Faz/University National League Side has appointed new coach,
have announced the appointment of Spanish coach Jordi Rovira Berengue of the Barca Academy as new head coach.
Berengue has signed a one-year deal with City Yamoto and will oversee the club’s chase for promotion back in the Super League after narrowly missing out last season as they finished 6th in the second-tier.
Prior to his appointment, Berengue had been serving as Local Project Director for the Lusaka-based Barca Academy owned by Spanish giants FC Barcelona.
He was also part of the Zambia Under-17 national team technical set-up – as technical director – that emerged triumphant at the 2020 Under-17 Cosafa Championship.
Meanwhile, former Chipolopolo international and 2012 AFCON winner Isaac Chansa who had been in charge of City since April, has been retained and will serve as Berengue’s assistant.
City were relegated from the Super League in the 2017 season and will relaunch their bid to retain their top-flight status in the upcoming 2021/22 season.
