Barbra Banda Ascends to Army Staff Sergeant

Commander of the Zambia Army, Lieutenant General Sitali Dennis Alibuzwi, has promoted Barbara Banda, the Copper Queens’ Captain and Orlando Pride Striker, to the rank of Staff Sergeant.
This promotion comes in recognition of her resilience and leadership during the Morocco vs. Zambia Olympic 2024 Qualifiers.

Banda’s remarkable performance included scoring two crucial goals that secured the Copper Queens’ place in the Women’s Football tournament in Paris.

Additionally, Green Buffaloes Women’s Football Club goalkeeper, Go Minder-Ngambo Musole, made exceptional saves to thwart the Atlas Lionesses’ attempts to score.

Lieutenant General Alibuzwi has stated that all the necessary promotion procedures will be followed to officially award Barbara her new rank.

He has also extended his congratulations to the Copper Queens for their determined effort, which saw them overturn a 2-1 deficit to claim a 3-2 aggregate victory, with a 2-0 win at Moulay Hassan Stadium in Rabat.
